What we're doing right now...
Angioplasty Database: Austin Health/Warringal Private Hospital
To be designed in SQL Server and Visual Basic .NET, this system will utilise Web Services to allow operation over the Internet. When completed the system will contain procedure details for cardiac patients treated at Austin Health and Warringal Private Hospital, with provision for diagnostic information and statistical reports.
The screen shot below gives an indication of where we are at the moment (13/12/2005) - The data-entry screens are completed, and reporting and security features are in place. Most reports are completed, more are on the way!

Here are some recent projects we have been involved in:
performance @ a glance: Serious Consulting Pty Ltd
Serious Consulting are a management consulting firm specializing in performance improvement. We were engaged to design a project management application that suited their consulting style, based upon an existing design in Microsoft Excel. See www.aglance.com.au for purchasing details.
performance @ a glance is designed in Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0, with automation links to Microsoft Excel. It uses a multi-document interface similar to Word or Excel, with charting and reporting capabilities. Below are some screen shots (click for full-size images):
Manufacturing Measures Reporting System: Philip Morris Limited
Philip Morris are best known for their tobacco products, however their parent company, Altria, also owns Kraft Foods.
Philip Morris' tobacco processing and cigarette manufacturing plant in Moorabbin, Victoria, requested that we design a system for charting the various statistics produced by their machinery, allowing them to view trends and easily spot problems in the manufacturing process.
The user interface is designed in Microsoft Access, but uses the Microsoft Excel charting system, which allows greater flexibility than the engine provided with Access. The data is stored on Microsoft SQL Server, providing excellent multi-user performance across the dozens of employees using the system.
The system is unique in that it presents the charts as nodes in a
tree-view, similar to Microsoft Windows Explorer. In this way, each
branch of the tree can represent a different department, with the
capacity to "drill down" to the information required. The nodes in
the tree use different colours and icons to give an immediate visual cue
as to the state of a process. For example, a green icon indicates
that the most recent month's data is within target; a red icon indicates
it is not. Opening a red node will present the next set of measures
in the hierarchy, allowing the user to immediately view the source of the
problem.
Cash Statistics Database: Italy I Holdings Pty Ltd
Designed in
Microsoft Access 2000 and SQL Server. The system is set up to receive cash
information from remote sites via dial-up line or VPN using Microsoft Data
Access Pages. Additional data entry and reporting facilities are designed in an
Access ADP file.
Town Planning System: Moreland City Council
(Access 97/Word 97/SQL
Server 6.5). A large, mission-critical system, upon which 15 or more users
depend. Is closely integrated with Microsoft Word to allow automated mail
merges, and contains import/export features for communication with mainframe.
Sales Enquiry System: Geofabrics Australia Pty Ltd
(Access 2000/SQL Server 7.0/Active Server
Pages). Based in Melbourne, this system operates over the Internet, serving
five interstate offices. Data entry is performed in Access for the sake of
speed; reporting uses Active Server Pages.
Quote System: Chapple Bros. Engineers
(Access 97). A simple system with complex
reporting; used for compiling information for quotes for the supply of
structural steel.
Booking System: Eurovillas Pty Ltd
(Access 97). Records client and booking
information, with the ability to automatically produce letters of various types,
including invoicing. Originally a conversion from a DOS-based system.
R.O.L.E. Model: Right Online Pty Ltd
(Visual Basic 5.0/Access 97). An application
making extensive use of VB's tree-view control, allowing the organization of
logistical information in a visual manner. Uses drag-and-drop and OLE
technology, Access replication, with interfaces to Microsoft Project, Maximizer
and Crystal Reports 6.0. Although not the sole developer, I have had the major
role in making R.O.L.E. Model a marketable application.
Bill of Materials System: Hendrickson Australia Pty Ltd
(Access 97, ODBC link to RS-6000). Designed to be used in conjunction with Pronto (running on an IBM RS-6000), this system allows storage of additional BOM information. Also has the ability to archive BOMs to a separate database.
